A Passion Play for Easter

A religious play for the spoken word. For performance by a rehearsed congregation or actors or both.    A series of monologues. The idea of it being included within the stations of the cross was imagined as was the idea of tableaux. It could be acted in costume, could be dynamic, theatrical, or reticent. I imagined the chorus of women  individually   standing at different places from within a seated group (emerging out of a congregation) as the opening (strophe) is performed, and giving themselves time to set the scene through repetition of the words whispering/uttering "myrrh" in such a way as to create an initial atmosphere and cast a spell of reverence, cold, sadness, presentiment and death.  The use of real myrrh incense in the space while the verses are being said will add hugely to the mood as the perfume of myrrh has a particular coldness and really does speak of death.
